Prior to beginning work, I will send you a formal editorial contract (the Editorial Agreement) in which the following will be outlined:
1. Editorial Tasks I will agree to complete specific editing tasks, depending on your needs. These tasks will be clearly outlined in the Editorial Agreement and signed (electronically) by both editor and client.
2. Delivery The projected schedule for completion of work will be specified and outlined in a detailed time estimate that will be included in the Editorial Agreement.
3. Payment Fees will be clearly outlined in the Editorial Agreement. After your initial inquiry, I may send you a free, non-binding quote; this quote may change following the review of a sample of your work. Based on the type and level of editing required, the Editorial Agreement will outline a fee schedule, to be paid either hourly or through a lump sum (which may be paid in a few installments as work progresses). No fees will be charged until both parties come to a mutually acceptable agreement and the contract is signed.
For hourly-paid projects, the total work on the project will not exceed the agreed-upon number of hours without the client’s prior approval.
